Continuing professional education

As we all know, trends and technology constantly evolve. While I work hard to keep my linguistic, writing and professional skills up-to-date, I also enjoy being an expert at what I do.

I participate in trainings, webinars, workshops and conferences on an ongoing basis. Recently, I attended:

 the Mediterranean Editors and Translators Conference, “Raising Standards through Knowledge Sharing and Peer Training”, Tarragona, Spain, October 2016;

workshops on Trados Studio 2015 (CAT tool), captioning, effective technical paragraphing, Drupal and Lingotek CMS, among others, on an array of institutions (United Kingdom, Spain and United States); and

– training in Technical Translation on Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency for translators with this specialty, Spain, 2016.

Experience

My journey as a translator started right after graduation in 2001 in Chile, and soon enough I had the opportunity to continue my career in the United States.

While working as a freelance translator, I had meaningful professional experiences in marketing, management and education. I also worked as a full-time in-house bilingual editor and translator before running Translation Creation Linguistic Services.

Quality, consistency and confidentiality frame each of my projects. I don’t translate word by word, I translate the meaning and the intention behind words from one culture to another, paying attention to communicational nuances and keeping the translation faithful to the source text.

My experience as well as my leadership skills have allowed me to work both independently and in team environments.

I do not only represent a language, but I understand and operate across multiple sociocultural contexts.

10 Reasons to work with me

Native command of the target language (Spanish)

I was born, raised and I pursued one of my degrees in Chile.

Solid linguistic background

I have over 15 years of experience in the translation field and a comprehensive linguistic and language development and education. I have extensively worked in English and Spanish speaking environments, which provides me with a broad cultural awareness.

Proficient in computer-assisted translation tools

I possess the necessary hardware and software equipment to manage, translate and edit projects in different file formats and in a unified and efficient manner. I currently work with SDL Trados Studio and other related CAT tools.

Customer-oriented culture and strong project management skills

I listen carefully to my clients’ instructions and expectations. An open communication line helps me meet their needs and requirements, ensure a timely delivery and produce a top-quality product. I also take confidentiality and privacy agreements very seriously because I understand their legal implications.

Competitive prices

I provide language services to clients from around the world and my rates are in line with other translation and writing services with similar quality standards.

Thorough knowledge and command of the source language (English)

I have lived in United States for 14 years and almost a year in the UK. I pursued a B.A. and a Master’s degree in the U.S. and I hold a TEFL certification from Canada in addition to several certifications on continuing professional development.

Accurate translations

Before starting any translation project, I do the appropriate research to render the content accurately into the target language. I also use localization and transcreation techniques when my clients need to serve a target audience or local market with specific cultural and sociolinguistic traits.

Quality assurance

Each of my projects undergoes a proofreading stage before I deliver the final product to my clients. Consistency in style,
terminology and linguistic quality are thoroughly reviewed.

Solid problem-solving skills

Linguistic projects always present certain challenges and this is what it makes them interesting for me to work on. I am confident I can solve small issues such as agreeing in ambiguous terminology to more challenging issues, such as delivering projects in specific formats and layouts.

Collaboration

As a professional translator, I specialize in a number of subjects. In addition, I collaborate and consult with a team of qualified translators that specializes in a variety of areas. Rest assured that I only engage in projects that I am confident I can deliver top-quality services.
